Young Artists and the Opera
This project was part of the bigger “Cultural Bridges” programme, in which scope one of the four cultural projects is “KaleidoscopEurope” Project. “KaleidoscopEurope” Project, led and coordinated by the ITALIAN INSTITUTE OF CULTURE ANKARA, and it is funded by the European Union. The project is supported by the Italian Institute of Culture in Istanbul, Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkish Opera and Ballet Employees Foundation (TOBAV) as project partners and by many important institutions and associations from Turkey and Europe as activity partners.
The aim of the project Young artists and the opera has been to create a Euro-Mediterranean artistic workshop. Besides realizing an artistic and musical performance, the young musicians will contribute to the Euro-Med. intercultural dialogue.
Staging the Italian opera “Il matrimonio segreto” by Domenico Cimarosa with the participation of European and Turkish young musicians and young singers. A key element of the project are the master class workshops, organized for the musicians taking part in the project, but some sections of the workshops will be open to other students of the institution where the workshop will take place. There will be other 2 workshops in the summer 2010 in our partner institutions in Italy and Czech Republic.  The workshops will be focused on chamber music and instrument class.
Culture and the development of intercultural exchanges play a crucial role in the Civil Society Dialogue.
Building upon their existing expertise and experience, this programme seeks to directly involve the EU Member States via their cultural institutes as active partners and facilitators in the EU-Turkey Civil Society Dialogue. The involvement of the cultural institutes is the most promising arrangement to help build cultural bridges between Turkey and the EU in an efficient and cost effective manner. With their wide network and wide range of experience, the cultural institutes are uniquely well placed to promote intercultural dialogue in Turkey and visa versa. They are also in a position to lend a high degree of visibility to the cultural dimension of the EU-Turkey Civil Society.
